Oscar M. Salgado, MS. Agricultural Engineering, BSc. Agricultural Science from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso in Chile and MBA from the Lord Ashcroft International Business School from the Anglia Ruskin University, UK.

For more than 30 years he has been involved in different areas of the agricultural export business, including production, quality control, post-harvest, farm management, R&D, and general management. He is also a shareholder of international agribusiness companies and has worked as a consultant for numerous companies in South America, Africa and the EU.

He is a former member of the board of directors of the Chilean Fruit Exporters’ Association and a former Associate Professor of Viticulture at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso. He has also been a guest speaker in several international conferences and a guest professor for numerous universities and private courses.

While Salgado’s main area of expertise is the table grape business, he is also involved in the export business of cherries, stone fruit, pip fruit, citrus and kiwifruit.

Throughout his professional career, he has worked in most of the main Chilean production areas, as well as Egypt, South Africa, the UK, the US and Spain in permanent posts. In total, he has visited more than two dozen countries on work-related matters.

His responsibilities include leading a team of international and multicultural staff, defining and conducting strategic plans, and monitoring and leading business ventures in the fresh produce sector.

He is currently the table grape expert at SanLucar, which is based in Valencia, Spain. His role involves looking at the entire value chain of the category, including third-party procurement and production at the company’s own farms, post-harvest, distribution management and farm management.
